Elizabeth K. Rhode

Managing Partner - Oregon

Liz’s civil litigation practice includes construction defect, construction site accident, product defect, catastrophic and personal injury, premises liability, property damage, and general liability claims. She routinely represents contractors, developers, product manufacturers, design professionals, and other businesses throughout Washington and Oregon.

Respected and trusted by colleagues and clients, Liz delivers timely, effective legal and technical analysis and persuasive arguments honed by experience. A Midwest native turned Pacific Northwestern, Liz pairs unmatched work ethic and pragmatism with innovative thinking and passionate advocacy. Liz has successfully represented clients in all stages of dispute, from pre-suit resolution to favorable verdict. Her engineering background enhances her ability to understand technical, scientific, and medical issues and effectively present related arguments to clients, counsel, claims professionals, or the jury.

Liz obtained a B.S. in Civil Engineering, with honors, while rowing on Gonzaga University’s 4x West Coast Conference champion women’s crew team and participating in the American Society of Civil Engineers National Student Steel Bridge Competition team. During law school, she was a judicial extern with the Central Puget Sound Growth Management Board. Liz has been involved with GirlsBuild since its founding in 2016 and is a member of the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel, Claims Litigation Management Alliance, Oregon Association of Defense Counsel, Construction Lawyers Society of America, Super Lawyers 2023, and the National Association of Women in Construction. Liz also speaks regularly at insurance and construction industry seminars.

Liz joined the firm in 2005, established the Oregon office in 2010, became a shareholder in 2011, and established Gillaspy Rhode Faddis & Benn LLC in January 2023. Outside of the firm, Liz loves running, golfing, yoga, her garden, and exploring the Pacific Northwest and beyond with her husband, daughter, and son.
